Eco marathon kicks off!

The Shell Eco-Marathon Europe 2012 – an annual event that challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and demo ultra-energy-efficient vehicles – officially kicked off in Rotterdam on 17 May. The marathon is designed to spark debate about the future of mobility and inspire young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency.
Oxford University has designed and entered a vehicle called PEGGIE, co-sponsored and co-powered by NXP Semiconductors. With the winner of the competition being the team whose vehicle goes the farthest using the least amount of energy, NXP microcontrollers are integral to PEGGIE's low power motor control and telemetry systems.
